Ocala, FL – Sun State Organics, LLC (SSO), an Ocala based resource recovery equipment manufacturer has announced a planned start-up manufacturing facility in Marion County, FL. SSO has designed and manufactured a revolutionary composter to serve the needs of the equestrian industry. The composter can turn horse manure and bedding into compost in as few as 6 days and it is less expensive than having the waste hauled off in a dumpster.

Mark Olson, one of the SSO Managing Partners says; “The Rotary Composter is a cost effective alternative to hauling manure” – a common and expensive option available to local horse farmers. Olson also stated; “We will be offering horse farmers a way to reduce their disposal costs by as much as 40% while producing a nutrient rich 100% organic fertilizer.”

The Rotary Composter is made of heavy duty HDPE and stainless steel. The Rotary Composter is available in four sizes and price ranges accommodating most budgets.  These Machines are built to last,” says Managing Partner Brian Donnelly. Donnelly adds; “Our specially designed equestrian line of composter are so easy and safe to use and they are packed with many features that take all the hard work out of composting.” Organic materials are shredded in a feed-hopper. A conveyor loads the shredded material into the compost machine. A forced air induction system and automatic rotation produce compost free of pathogens, weed-seeds and parasites in just days.

Donnelly goes on to say; “We are keenly aware of certain challenges faced by horse farmers. The horse industry like other livestock operations, has felt the pressure of new environmental regulations coming from State and Federal governments. There is an on-going effort to make some regulations more restrictive when it concerns water quality.  Disposal costs are rising every year. Our Rotary Composter provides financial relief and gives manure generators freedom from rising disposal costs. Manure in, compost out.  Compost is an excellent organic fertilizer and it’s free. We believe horse farmers can benefit greatly from our machine,”

SSO is currently evaluating potential manufacturing sites preferring to take advantage of the depressed real estate market vs. constructing a new facility. The company will initially employ fifteen to twenty people. It is expected demand will require the hiring of additional personnel. “If all goes as planned, the manufacturing operation will commence some time in 2010,” Olson says.
